Do You Agree with Food Minimums for Venues?

Hello, everyone! I am doing a deeper dive into finding the perfect wedding venue. There is one issue that I am struggling with, though... A lot of beautiful venues have a "food minimum" that is crazy expensive! Should it be normal that these food minimums are more expensive than renting out the venue itself? I need to do more research about why this is a thing. Maybe you guys could also enlighten me if you happen to work at a wedding spot! I hope you all have a great day.
